Guestbook Zorba's Cottage

We stayed at Zorbas cottage for two weeks, this was our first visit to Cyprus and it was just perfect. The cottage is very well equipped and maintained, and Dave and Kay are the perfect hosts. We ate out every evening at the local tavernas, most of which are just a short drive. Eating it in this area is also very good value. The cottage itself has ample outside seating areas, and from the veranda you can watch the sunset , the pool can be seen from the road but it's a rarely used road so wasn't a problem for us. It's a good size pool but not very deep but fine for just cooling off. We have a very enjoyable holiday here and will definitely return. Dave and Louise August 2016"

Mallorca ! Also hin und selber lesen/erleben. Wir haben uns jedenfalls gut erholt, einige tolle Tage dort verbracht, waren sehr zufrieden und ich glaube, Malle hat in Zukunft schlechte Karten!- Hannah October 2016"

Dave and Kay sent fantastic directions, including photos of road signs, to enable us to get from Paphos airport to a meeting place, off the main Polis road, where they met us and took us to the village and Zorba's cottage. On the way, they pointed out local amenities including restaurants, supermarkets and ATMs. When we arrived, they took us for a guided tour of Zorba's, which is an excellent cottage, built in the traditional stone of the area, having a fully equipped kitchen with dining area. The sitting room had two comfortable sofas seating five. Both bedrooms had a shower or bathroom, either en-suite or next to the bedroom, making them both effectively en-suite. However, the crowning glory was the covered terrace - large enough for a dining table, four dining chairs as well as two sink-into comfortable chairs and a two seater sofa with coffee table. The lower terrace had a small but effective pool. We spent every breakfast sitting on the terrace in April and ate every dinner, until about 9p.m. looking at the view and watching the birds. Dave and Kay arrived every other day to monitor the water in the pool and water the plants. The cottage is also equipped with both central heating and air-conditioning, neither of which we needed to use while we there. Masses of towels, bed linen and tea towels were provided, together with cleaning materials for dishwasher, washing machine and general cleaning. Kay and Dave had given us a starter pack of food - eggs, bread, butter, milk, tea, coffee, sugar, orange juice, fruit plus some individual boxes of breakfast cereal and jams, so there was no need for us to have to go shopping immediately after our arrival. As it was, we found one of their suggestions of a taverna in Miliou where we had an excellent meal! The 'Book of Zorba' was a travelogue of its own. Everything you could need during your stay - from instructions in English (with labels) for the Greek washing machine, to shops and shopping, restaurants, comments on Cypriot driving, ideas for visits etc: etc: We have written our comments into their guest book, including all the places that we have visited - too many to mention here. We would thoroughly recommend using this cottage, providing that you have your own transport and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of living in a Cypriot village in the hills about 25 minutes from Paphos town. It is not suitable for children, having many steps near the pool and terrace. We are planning to go back next year. Michael Davis 26April 2016

This was our first self-catering holiday, usually preferring to have the relative routine of a hotel, where everything is laid on. Despite a somewhat flakey start, where the car rental company at Larnaca airport delivered a poor service and the 2 hour night-time drive across the island proved challenging, with driving habits even worse than those in the UK, it was good to be met with a smile and a friendly handshake by Dave & Kay (the property owners) a few minutes drive from the property. They lead and we followed, we stopped briefly in the local "town" where Dave pointed out some suitable shops, ATMs and taverns, and then we arrived at Zorba's Cottage. Dave & Kay gave a detailed overview of the property and then left us to our own devices, to have a glass of wine and a much needed nights sleep. From then on, the property proved to have everything we needed. Being fairly remote, the location may not be for some, but it was perfect for us. Everything you could need was just a short car ride away (Paphos town was a 30-40 minute drive) and the peace and tranquillity was wonderful. Dave & Kay visited a couple of times to check the pool - which had we have not been outside at the time, we wouldn't have noticed - but the fact that they were so local was a huge benefit, to give advice on local life and suitable places to visit during our stay. They had pulled together a very comprehensive folder of information ("The Book of Zorba") which covered every possible eventuality, both inside the property (e.g. instructions on how to operate the dishwasher, TV, washing machine etc.) and out (e.g. doctors, pharmacists, restaurants, beaches and walks, as well as a light-hearted overview of local driving habits). All in all, we had a wonderful stay. I would thoroughly recommend Zorba's Cottage to friends and family and anyone who wants to relax and enjoy the tranquillity of the beautiful Cypriot countryside and the friendly nature of the locals. It is clear from the guest book in the property that several couples had been back 2 or 3 times, so it was not just us that enjoyed the location and hospitality. Thanks Dave & Kay! Hope to see you again soon.

Excellent house, fully equipped for all needs. Dave and Kay are the perfect hosts, taking care of all needs, issues and questions. Highly recommend it for a couple, but can also easily accommodate up to 4 people. Village and area in general is very quiet and pastoral, but on the on other within a close drive to beaches, major sites, etc. Highly recommended if you want a quiet and relaxing vacation!!!! This was our fourth visit to Zorba's Cottage in three years - which has to be a high recommendation in itself. The location of the cottage is perfect if you are seeking a quiet and semi rural setting. The facilities are exactly as described and have been excellent for us as a couple and also when our daughter joined us. We have always been impressed by the high level of upkeep of the property generally and the care and consideration given to the garden and pool. The owners of the property have consistently made us feel very welcome and nothing has been too much effort or trouble for them. The Book of Zorba is so thorough and informative that any visitor would be hard pressed to need any further information, eg. directions to and from the airport, equipment inside the cottage and recommendations to local tavernas and even an amusing guide to driving in Cyprus! We would highly recommend this property if you wish to have a restful and relaxing break. Zorba's Cottage is ideally placed to explore the many beautiful places that Cyprus has to offer - although a car is essential. Martin and Carol 8 April 09/11/15

This was our second stay at Zorbas and now it seems like our home in Cyprus . As before Dave and Kay were absolutely fantastic and they went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. Upon our arrival there was tea, coffee, milk, bread and butter, fruit and more so there was no need to rush out to the shops straight away. The nearest tavernas are only a few minutes drive away and there is information in 'The Book of Zorba' which provides recommendations of restaurants and tavernas and details of how to get there. This book, which they have updated since last year, also provides information about places to visit and things to do in the area. If you want a holiday away from the tourist hotspots and to see the real Cyprus this is the place to go. We would thoroughly recommend it. We are going back next year. — Sue and Jim, 19 Sep 2014

We thoroughly enjoyed our second visit to Zorbas this August. As last time, our holiday was made special by the hospitality extended to us by Dave and Kay.
We would recommend renting a jeep if you want to see more of the island and visit some of the more remote, less crowded and beautiful beaches.
A fantastic holiday - would definitely recommend it - thank you Dave and Kay

We were welcomed on arrival at close to 1am by Dave and Kay with not a word of complaint. They made sure we were comfortable, that the car we received from the hire company they put us in touch with was ok., and made it clear that they were available to help at any time. We've loved every day here. The attention to detail couldn't have been better. Their hand made guide to the area, the tea coffee and basics they gave us to settle in, spoke of something beyond a purely commercial venture. I have no hesitation in recommending this well located, comfortable home with a lovely view to anyone who wants more than the madding crowd. Exceptional. — Jim Leggat, 28 Jun 2014

We loved staying at Zorbas cottage, had every thing we needed. Mr and Mrs Zorba were so helpful and it was nice to know they were only a phone call away. The village was friendly, we had a drink and biscuit with local shop keeper most days. So many places to see and eat out, also so relaxing for lazy days around pool. We would recommend a stay at Zorbas to any one.

"The Real Cyprus" April 2014

What needs to be said? We came to Zorba's in November 2012 for our 30th Wedding Anniversary (due to a cancelled trip to S. America)............... we loved it, so we came again at the first opportunity! Ideally placed to see the 'real' Cyprus in a proper rural setting. Dave & Kay, the owners, couldn't do enough for us on both occasions............ we now consider them as friends.........and long may it be so. Book with confidence and join in... you won't be disappointed. Jim & Sheryl, UK

A massive thank you to Kay & Dave for the wonderful holiday we enjoyed at Zorba - it was all we hoped for and much much more we haven't stopped thinking about it and searching for flights to return - the setting is amazing and we loved every moment - we celebrated 14 years of marriage and our beautiful grandson was born on 28/09/2014 we will never forget such a lovely time. Definitely would recommend and can't wait to return :) :) — Trish & John Edy, 09 Oct 2014

"Zorba's Cottage" September 2013

We had a fantastic holiday at Zorba's Cottage. Everything about the cottage was as described in the listing and we found it spacious and beautifully clean. The terrace is a lovely place to sit at any time of the day or evening, with views of the countryside and the birdlife. The owners, Dave and Kay, were really helpful providing advice and information when ever we needed it. They also provided a folder containing information about the cottage and also about local tavernas and other places to visit, including details of how to get there. We made frequent use of this information and really enjoyed the tavernas they recommended. The cottage is in a rural location on the edge of a small village is ideally located if you wish to explore the traditional Cypriot villages and tavernas or drive into the Paphos Forest/Troodos areas and the tourist resorts (Paphos, Polis, Latchi and Coral Bay) are also easily accessible. Supermarkets, banks and tavernas are only a short drive away. We would highly recommend this property. Susan and Jim, UK

"Zorba's Cottage" August 2013

This was our third visit to the lovely Zorba's cottage set in the glorious countryside of Polemi. This two bed-roomed accommodation has been ideal for us on each of our visits, with and without our daughter. The facilities in the kitchen and living areas were of a high standard, well maintained and always spotlessly clean. The outlook from the terrace across the swimming pool to the countryside beyond was perfect for the kind of relaxing holiday that we needed. The owners, Dave and Kay, were always attentive and on hand whenever we needed them. Their friendly support and advice was always very welcome and useful. The tavernas recommended in the information pack were really worth visiting for their quality and value. Zorba's cottage is in a rural location but easily accessible, by car, to supermarkets, tavernas and places of interest that the island of Cyprus has to offer. We would highly recommend this property. Martin & Carole, UK.

 June 2013

Many thanks to Dave & Kay for their warm Cypriot hospitality. It was wonderful to be far from the hoards of tourists & be able to wander around local villages & taverns. Zorba's is very peaceful, we read lots, relaxed to the sounds of birds, watched a few sunsets. Margaret & Mike, Australia

June 2013

We have been coming to Cyprus for many years and have stayed at various locations on both sides of the Island. We have enjoyed the Cottage immensely. We will definitely return, if not this year, next year. The setting is perfect, peace and quiet and within easy reach of all the places we know. Elaine & Bill, Lancashire
